Quotes of the Day

Today is a day I’ve celebrated for quite sometime. Not because it’s Hitler’s birthday (duh that’d be dumb…), but because I celebrate a natural resource for the body, mind & spirit. Although I’m quitting after today… I will go into it in further detail in [a] blog{s} (probably tonight or tomorrow). Gotta get going, but here are a few quotes for the day.

“The biggest killer on the planet is stress and I still think the best medicine is and always has been cannabis.”

“I think people need to be educated to the fact that marijuana is not a drug. Marijuana is an herb and a flower. God put it here. If He put it here and He wants it to grow, what gives the government the right to say that God is wrong?” – Willie Nelson #adorable

“When you smoke the herb, it reveals you to yourself.” – Bob Marley #nom

“The illegality of cannabis is outrageous, an impediment to full utilization of a drug which helps produce the serenity and insight, sensitivity and fellowship so desperately needed in this increasingly mad and dangerous world.” –  Carl Sagan #ingenious

“Being high is one of the most pleasant sensations available to mankind. Every day is Saturday. It is to be like a child; to perceive events with clarity; to look into the gates of paradise; to completely enjoy whatever you might be doing; to smile so hard that your jaw muscles get tired. Being high is to laugh at the silliest things; to understand things that have seemed absurd before; to have the aloofness of a cat; to afford a kinship with god. To be intoxicated with marijuana makes every superlative seem within your grasp. Being high makes life seem terribly good. Being high is simply grand.” – John Rosevear #TobiasDoppleganger

“…marijuana is one of the safest, therapeutically active substances known to man.” – Judge Francis Young #DEA

“I used to smoke marijuana. But I’ll tell you something: I would only smoke it in the late evening. Oh, occasionally the early evening, but usually the late evening – or the mid-evening. Just the early evening, midevening and late evening. Occasionally, early afternoon, early midafternoon, or perhaps the late-midafternoon. Oh, sometimes the early-mid-late-early morning. . . . But never at dusk.” – Steve Martin #funny

“Why is marijuana against the law? It grows naturally upon our planet. Doesn’t the idea of making nature against the law seem to you a bit . . . unnatural?” – Bill Hicks #real

“Marijuana is not a drug!!! I used to suck dick for coke! You ever suck DICK for marijuana?” – Bob Saget #definitelynotdannytanner

“If you substitute marijuana for tobacco and alcohol, you’ll add eight to 24 years to your life.”

“Well, as I understand it, the main supporters are beer companies and the pharmaceutical companies. I’d like them to show me the dead bodies from marijuana. But they can’t because there aren’t any. But you can count the dead bodies from alcohol, tobacco, and legal pharmaceuticals by the millions.”

“Hemp is Earth’s number-one biomass resource; it is capable of producing 10 tonnes per acre in four months.”

“I dont want to fucking give the United States government one fucking dollar of taxes. I think that they should go to fucking jail for getting you and me and 20 million people getting arrested for pot. It is the safest thing you can do in the universe.”- Jack Herer #EmperorOfHemp

I smoked pot in college and in the Army…” – Al Gore #politicalfigureiactuallylike

“I think that marijuana should not only be legal, I think it should be a cottage industry. It would be wonderful for the state of Maine. There’s some pretty good homegrown dope. I’m sure it would be even better if you could grow it with fertilizers and have greenhouses.” – Stephen King #admirablewriter

“Cannabis never killed anybody and it’s use is widespread. You can”t stop it. The law defeats itself because all the efforts to stop drugs coming in only drives up the prices and then gangsters move in to push the drugs. If they legalised there wouldn’t be gangsters and huge profits…The police are gradually decriminalising the possession of cannabis because they realise there’s not much point prosecuting” – Judge James Pickles, UK. #truthful

“Is marijuana addictive? Yes, in the sense that most of the really pleasant things in life are worth endlessly repeating.” – Richard Neville #futurist

“Congress should definitely consider decriminalizing possession of marijuana….We should concentrate on prosecuting the rapists and burglars who are a menace to society.” – U.S. Representative Dan Quayle, March 1977 #thinker

“If the words ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness’ don’t include the right to experiment with your own consciousness, then the Declaration of Independence isn’t worth the hemp it was written on.” – Terence McKenna  #psychonaut

“Please don’t throw your shit at me… unless that shit resembles a bag of marijuana.” – Les Claypool #keeelerofmusic

“The importation and sale of marijuana is condemned and punished as a serious crime, but we accept as legitimate the manufacture and sale of an infinitely more addicitve and deadly drug: the nicotine in cigarettes that cost the lives of 390,000 American citizens last year.” – Jimmy Carter, 1990 #politicianitrust

“I do smoke. But I dont go through all this trouble just because I want to make my drug of choice legal. Its about personal freedom. We should have the right in this country to do what we want, if we dont hurt anybody. Seventy-two million people in this country have smoked pot. Eighteen to 20 million in the last year. These people should not be treated as criminals” – Woody Harrelson #entertainer

“It really puzzles me to see marijuana connected with narcotics… dope and all that crap, its a thousand times better than whiskey- its an assistant – a friend” – Louis Armstrong #musicianidig
